This beautiful vintage pendant by Van Dell features a luminous globe of crushed opal encased beneath a smooth polished surface. The opal catches the light with flashes of blue, green, and subtle pink, while the elegant engraved gold-filled cap gives the pendant a timeless mid-century look.

The pendant is marked 1/20 Gold Filled and appears to be signed Van Dell. The signature is difficult to photograph due to its tiny size, but is visible under magnification. (See photos.)

One of my favorite discoveries was viewing this pendant under UV light—the opal glows beautifully, highlighting the natural play of color hidden within the stone.
